Cutting a clip

Cutting is essential to making a movie. There are two ways to cut, i will first show you the one i deem faster:
1. first put your playhead to where you want to cut.
2. Click on apple + T or go to edit/split video clip at playhead.
This will split the clip where you specified, all you have to do now is delete the clip you do not want.
This will indicate the clip being deleted:

And you are done!

I just had a question about a problem I'm having. I have a really long movie I've been working on for a month now. It's 1 hour and a half right now, and all of the sudden, it has taken a long section of video that I use earlier in my movie, and has added where I am trying to work now. But I can't delete it because it isn't a "visible clip". I mean, it shows right after the last pic I have put in ends, but the actual video clip is not in the timeline. It's not letting me add anymore pics or footage now because this stupid thing is there. I just have tons of time put into this and now that I have only 15 minutes left to do.....I'm stopped. Do you have any idea how I can fix it???

a couple ideas that you could try

1. simply switch the view from timeline to the other one

2. if you save freaquently, close imovie and open back to the last save withought the problem, you will lose some work if you do this

3. This is garuanteed to work, but it will create one long clip from the clips already there. This also takes a while and alot of hard drive space. Go to share, and export the whole movie as .dv (full quality), this is the part that takes a while
now when its done, you can create a new project and drag the clip into it (will also take a while) or you can drag it into the existing project, but i recommend putting it into a new project. You can also move all your unused clips from one project to another with a simple drag and drop.

I hope this works, and congrats on a 1 hour and a half movie!
