It just requires dragging, and mostly, patience.
To do this just drag and drop the clips into the canvas (where your other clips are).
Normally you should see a progress bar, importing a clip takes a while.

I am importing video files from an external hard drive over a USB wire. But when they get in, I only get a white screen with my sound. No video. Is there something wrong with my files?
I tried editing a 500Mb .mp4 file using the last iMovie HD app, but when I tried to import, it said not enough disk space...but I have 200G free....so...
Even then, if I try using the latest iMovie it doesn't even let me import ANY file types I need to edit...
when I drag an image file into an Imove clip it inverts the image onto it's side and there is no way to rotate the image back. Any suggestions?
